What conditions do you treat?

We treat the full spectrum of Psychiatric conditions.  Some common Psychiatric illnesses that most people know are anxiety, bipolar disorder, insomnia, ADD (attention deficit disorder) and depression.  


Dementia and behavioral aspects of this illness from causes such as stroke, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, or unknown cause are also conditions we manage. 


We treat addiction to opioids, benzodiazepines (nerve pills), and alcohol.   


Various conditions can mimic these and other common illnesses.  An accurate diagnosis is key to proper treatment.  

What should I expect at my first visit?

At your first visit a complete review of your medical history will be completed.  Please bring a government issued picture ID.


Your physician will get to know you and what you would like help with.  A comprehensive treatment plan will be developed.   Lab work may be ordered at this time.  


If you are coming for addiction treatment expect to provide a urine drug sample.

We are located at 249 East Main St., Suite A in Johnson City, TN.  We are down the street from Freiberg's/Capone's and the door to the right of Sister's At Law legal firm.  

Suboxone Treatment

What is it?

Suboxone and variants such as Subutex, Zubsolv, and Bunavail are medications approved for the treatment of Opioid Dependance.

How does it work?

The medications mentioned above contain Buprenorphine.  Buprenorphine takes away the craving of wanting opioids known by names such as OxyContin, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Opana, Heroin, Methadone, Roxicodone, Norco, Fentanyl, Demerol, Tramadol, and Percocet.

Is it safe?

Buprenorphine or a combination of Buprenorphine and Naloxne aka Suboxone are much safer than other prescription opioids or street drugs.  There is always a risk associated with any medication.  Click below for more information.

How often will I need to be seen?

This depends on how well you are doing and what level of monitoring is needed for the medication you may be prescribed.  Generally patients are seen more often as a newer patient.  As stability and improvement in symptoms develop, a longer period of time between appointments can be scheduled.

Do you treat addiction?

Yes, we treat patients with addiction.  Having a psychiatric condition as well as addiction is known as a Dual Diagnosis.  It is vital that both of these conditions are treated simultaneously.  There are a number of options available for treating opioid, benzodiazepine, and alcohol addiction. After discussing your goals we will develop an effective treatment plan that is right for you.  We realize how difficult managing these conditions are and tailor the treatment to your needs.

What if I can't make my appointment?

We will send a text message a day before as well as an hour before your appointment time.  Please respond YES if you can make your appointment or NO to reschedule or cancel. 

Can you manage my diabetes, high blood pressure, sinus infection, etc...?

Our expertise is in Psychiatry and Addiction and only treat related conditions.  We recommend that all of our patients have a primary care doctor that they see on a regular basis for other medical concerns.

Do you treat pain?

Chronic pain can be the cause of or contribute to  the severity and chronicity of psychiatric conditions.  We fully support that you have  pain related issues treated at an appropriate clinic.  Our clinic does not treat pain.  

What if I am having a side effect to my medication?

If at any time you feel you are having a  reaction or unwanted side effect to a medication prescribed by this clinic call us as soon as you can.  If you are  experiencing an emergency call 911.
